Bank holiday closures

The practice will be closed for Bank holiday on 25/05/2026.

If you need medical help during this time, use NHS 111 online or call 111. NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Blue Badges

Westcroft Health Centre is unable to take requests for Blue Badges. All applications and enquiries must be submitted directly to your local council.

Chaperones

The practice prides itself in maintaining professional standards. For certain examinations during consultations an impartial observer (a chaperone) will be required. Please contact our reception team in advance if you wish to have a chaperone with you during your appointment.

This impartial observer will be a practice nurse, healthcare assistant or a trained member of the reception/administrative team who is familiar with the procedure, and be available to reassure and raise any concerns on your behalf. If a chaperone is unavailable at the time of your consultation then your examination may be re-scheduled for another time.

You are free to decline any examination or chose an alternative examiner or chaperone. You may also request a chaperone for any examination or consultation if one is not offered to you. The GP may not undertake an examination if a chaperone is declined.

The role of a chaperone:

  • Maintains professional boundaries during intimate examinations
  • Acknowledges a patient’s vulnerability
  • Provides emotional comfort and reassurance
  • Assists in the examination
  • Assists with undressing patients, if required
